I have been working on more artworks in graphite, ink, oils, watercolours, and charcoal Also incorporating cold wax into my oil paintings. More of my art will be added soon. Surface pattern design is also something that I create but I feel the market is pretty saturated and its not really what i would call a passion
I have many areas of interest but tend to lean towards the ethereal and mythological themes. Delving into the mysteries involving Avalon and Celtic legends is of interest. At present I am drawn towards Irish topics. My maiden name is Casey and my father’s family were Irish.
My husband Alistair Forrest, who writes historical fiction, is also researching the Celts at present for his latest series.
August 2024 saw the publication of my first Children’s book, Hedgehog Island.
The magic of Alderney has worked its wonders and given me the ideas to create a story that I hope will be taken to the hearts of little people everywhere. The book cover image is on my latest paintings page. A hedgehog called Nickle Prickle and his best friend Mike the Mouse go on a Big Adventure to find an Island where the hedgehogs are different and live a happy, safe life. You see, so many of Nickle Prickle’s friends on the mainland have been squished by huge vehicles. Nickle and Mike arrive on the island to find the hedgehogs are different, yet they are very welcoming and friendly.
After ten months of work, writing and illustrating Hedgehog Island I am pleased to release it into the world. Press releases have been published and I declined some radio interviews, although in the end I did agree to do one with BBC Radio Guernsey.
We moved to Alderney in June 2019 and we couldn’t be happier with our move. My parents lived here in the 80s and we visited often when the children were young. The only downside is that the children (grown up children) are all in the UK.
